RV Trip Planning Doesn't Have To Be A Headache

Monthly Update!

Punxsutawney Phil said early spring..are you ready for RVing season!?

The past month has been a busy one for us! We visited with family in Florida, snorkeled with manatees, took a 4-night cruise to the Caribbean, booked our summer campgrounds in Canada, and towed 1,200 miles to start our journey west and get some much-needed RV service.

We plan to visit 21 new National Parks in 2024, making our way up the west coast and into Canada to spend 3 months in the Canadian Rockies.

Our first park of the year was Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas, a great stop for camping near a pristine creek and a traditional soak in a mineral whirlpool with 4,000-year-old water from the hot springs.

This past month we also continued to build out all of our Newfoundland content to help you plan the perfect trip to our favorite Canadian Province! You can see all 10 Newfoundland articles here!

Travel Tips: Planning The Perfect RV Road Trip

If we are being honest, planning an RV trip can be stressful - especially when you are full-time like us and are planning a neverending series of them!

Here are a few tips we have learned that have helped us plan successful RV trips:

  • Put reminders on your phone or on a visible to-do list for campground reservation dates. With campgrounds in popular areas being so competitive, missing the reservation window opening can really sabotage a trip
  • Be sure to research what you plan to do in the park in addition to securing a campsite. You may need permits or advanced reservations for access to parks or excursions in addition to getting a place to stay. Don't stop there!
  • Try to limit your travel days to 300 miles and always try to keep your travel time in the daylight
  • Plan fuel stops and pit stops in advance to ensure you have places to stop and refuel as needed. This is especially important if you have a larger RV that can be tough to navigate in some places
  • Be flexible. Weather, traffic, and other circumstances can throw curve balls and that is part of RVing. It is better to adjust than put yourself at risk

We documented our exact process in our recent article:

Monthly Update! Happy New Year! The end of one year and the beginning of another is always a bit bittersweet. In 2023 we saw our confidence as full-time RVers blossom as we traveled to 10 states and 4 Canadian Provinces while covering all of the east coast from Key West in Florida up to Newfoundland in Atlantic Canada. We put our 40-foot RV on a ferry, snuck in international travel to England and Wales, and had the luxury of spending great quality time with friends and family throughout the...

Monthly Update! The early bird gets the worm when it comes to RVing! Wow, December already!? November had us heading south for warmer weather, making our journey from brisk New England down to sunny Florida. We had a lakeside stay in South Carolina, a quick stop in Savannah, and are now enjoying plenty of 75-degree days by the ocean. This time of year is typically a bit of an enigma for us. A balancing act of spending quality time with family, leaning into the celebrations of the holiday...
